The Central government Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking extension of tenure of incumbent Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Sanjay Kumar Mishra who was asked by the top court to demit office by July 31.
The government sought that Mishra be allowed to stay in office till October 15 so that the Financial Action Task Force s (FATF) review of India s money-laundering investigations can conclude swiftly. The application was mentioned by solicitor general Tushar Mehta before a bench headed by justice BR Gavai. The bench agreed to take up the application on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
