Homes for the Holidays event provides beds for those in need

Thanks to the efforts of four community organizations and a furniture store, children and adults throughout Des Moines County are getting a better night s sleep this Christmas Eve, helping Santa to better make his deliveries unseen.
Through Slumberland Furniture s Homes for the Holidays event and in collaboration with Burlington Building Bridges, Community Action of Southeast Iowa, the Domestic Violence Intervention Program and Young House Community Services 14 beds were donated Monday to Des Moines County families in need. 
The need for beds in Burlington is really big, said Mona Ash, director of Burlington Building Bridges, which works with more than 75 southeast Iowa individuals and families to help them overcome the many obstacles put in place by poverty. ....
