Participants in the Leadership Program of the
Venice Area Chamber of Commerce are tasked with undertaking a project that will leave their mark on the community. The Class of 2020 decided on a project for Family Promise of South Sarasota County.
The project included organizing and reworking the interior of the building, interior painting, playground cleanup, landscaping, a chalk wall and a rock garden. To complete the project the class presented gifts, including a variety of game balls and chalk, laptops, an iPad with a case, two office desks and chairs, an 8x10 rug and storage shelves.

Teen Leadership group to begin

Modeled after leadership programs that already exist, the chamber announced it is started Teen Leadership Venice.
Teen Leadership Venice will be open to high school students during the 2021-22 school year who are going to be sophomores or juniors during that school year.
Applications are due May 3.
âTeen Leadership Venice is a program of the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce providing area high school students a chance to enhance their knowledge of their community,â the chamber said in a news release. âThrough onsite tours and meetings with community leaders they will develop skills that will empower and motivate them.â
The program involved an opening retreat along with monthly programs and a closing retreat/graduation, the news release said. ....
