Arana Shapiro
Arana Shapiro joined Games for Change in 2019 as the Managing Director and Chief Learning Officer where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization as well as providing strategic and programmatic support on all learning initiatives.  Arana is the former Executive Director of Institute of Play, a NYC-based nonprofit organization that focused on transforming education through games and play.  At IOP Arana led the Institute’s strategy, growth, development, and operations.  She also oversaw the Institute’s major initiatives in relation to school design, leadership, and school-based partnerships. She has over twenty years of experience in education and nonprofit management, as a teacher, educational technologist, curriculum developer, and organizational leader. Superintendent of Schools Peter Light has announced that Joanie Dean has accepted his offer to become the next principal at ABRHS.
Light sent the following notice to the school community:
Members of the A-B Community,
I am pleased to announce that Ms. Joanie Dean has accepted my offer to become the next Principal of the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School effective July 1, 2021.  
Ms. Dean brings a set of diverse experiences and skills to the position.  Ms. Dean currently serves as the Prep School Director (Upper School Principal) for the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York, NY.  In her twenty-one years at Columbia Prep, she also served the school as a math teacher and department leader for many years, Dean of Academics and as the Assistant Director of the Prep School.  Prior to joining the faculty at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, Ms. Dean taught for two years at a public school in Brooklyn, NY and as a Peace Corp ....
