MPs have shelved a motion that would have sealed the fate of Mwende Mwinzi as Kenya’s nominee for ambassadorial post in Seoul, South Korea.
Majority Leader Amos Kimunya successfully lobbied Speaker Justin Muturi to drop debate on a report asking the House to rescind its decision approving appointment of Ms Mwinzi.
The House had on June 6, 2019 approved the appointment of Ms Mwinzi with a condition that she renounces her American citizenship prior to taking up the appointment.

The National Assembly yesterday shelved the debate on the controversy surrounding the appointment of Mwende Mwinzi to Seoul, South Korea ignoring its conditioned approval.
This came even as Members of Parliament called for the sacking of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ambassador Raychelle Omamo and action taken against her for being in breach of the law and abuse of office.
Majority Leader Amos Kimunya sought the indulgence of Speaker Justin Muturi to give him three weeks leave to establish whether Mwinzi has complied with the House resolution to renounce her US citizenship before taking up the diplomatic role. ....

A proposed law seeking to provide guidelines for the planned June referendum has provided a fresh battle ground for rival camps in the National Assembly.
