Are hardworking men and women who work their lives in a factory or in a business and now they ve been unemployed, they ve been downsized. there are people in their 40s, people in their 50s, they re hardworking men and women. and i think that the game should stop and that the congress should, before it recesses in august, give an up-or-down vote on the current jobs bill that s stalled in the senate where a small group of senators is blocking an up-or-down vote. let s look at the numbers again. you look at the unemployment rate for black men double that of whites. why is that? two reasons. there s still persistent discrimination in the lay mor market, but second the educational attainment level of african-american men isn t where it ought to be. what do i mean by that? for anyone who has a high school diploma or less, the unemployment rate is much, much higher. there are just more african-americans and latinos who happen to fall ....
