KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian authorities are inspecting one of Lay Hong s egg farms in Jeram, Selangor, to identify the source of Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) bacteria.
This was after Singapore directed four importers to recall eggs from the farm due to the presence of the bacteria which could cause foodborne illness if the eggs are consumed raw or undercooked.

In a statement on Sunday (Mar 14), Malaysia s Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) said it is looking into egg production processes, vaccination records and the farm’s disease surveillance programme to try and trace the source of the SE contamination. ....

KUALA LUMPUR – The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has taken follow-up action by visiting and conducting an investigation on Lay Hong Bhd’s ‘CES 008’ farm in Jeram, Selangor, to identify the cause of Salmonella enteritidis (SE) contamination, which led to a recall of the company’s eggs in Singapore.
DVS in a statement today informed that the department has begun tracing the source of the infection besides checking vaccination records, egg production and records of disease surveillance programmes on the farm.

“Eggs from the CES 008 farm are not allowed to be sold in the local market as table eggs until the results of the investigation are obtained. Eggs from this farm are only for the production of egg products that undergo heat treatment at the company’s processing plant located in Kapar and Meru, Selangor. ....

Lay Hong's Jeram 1 farm suspended pending investigation by DVS; other farms still allowed to export eggs

KUALA LUMPUR (March 14): Lay Hong Bhd s production from its Jeram 1 farm in Selangor has been suspended from the local and export markets after Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) was found in its eggs exported from one of its farms, leading to a recall in Singapore.
In a statement today, Lay Hong said the Jeram 1 farm whose production is chiefly supplied to Singapore is currently suspended from both the domestic and export markets pending the completion of the investigation by the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).
The company added that no eggs will be sold from Jeram 1, and it will only resume the supply of eggs from the farm once the investigation is completed. ....
