Lawrence Township police chief reacts to new cannabis laws Lawrence Township police chief reacts to new cannabis laws Legalizing marijuana may be a boon to adults who use it recreationally, but the new regulations have set up a roadblock between the police and young people and their families. Under a set of new laws signed by Gov. Phil Murphy on Feb. 22, parents whose children – defined as young people under 21 years old – will not be notified if their child is found to be in possession of marijuana or alcohol, said Lawrence Township Police Chief Brian Caloiaro.
