A Lawrence Police Department vehicle is seen in this file photo from September 2018. Story updated at 5:34 p.m. Monday: Lawrence police called in assistance for possible explosives that officers found during a search of a home Monday, according to a department spokesperson. Officers were executing a search warrant at a home near the intersection of Kasold Drive and Harvard Road when they found what they believed could be “unexploded military ordnance,” said Patrick Compton, spokesperson for the Lawrence Police Department. Officers called for assistance from Fort Riley, Compton said. Department policy states that officers should not touch or move suspected explosive devices, but rather call a bomb squad or military explosive ordnance disposal team.
