We visited a farmers market each day of the week and talked to people who made soap, raise pigs in the woods, sell potato chips, make gourmet Israeli cuisine and sell Siamese fighting fish and bearded dragons. Medical and town leaders tell NBC Connecticut they wanted to make the process easy and simple and to ensure people know they can return for their second shot at the same location where they picked up their first. We need to make sure that we re reaching populations in these specific areas to get back in here, said Anne Horbatuck, Vice President for Ambulatory Services for UConn Health. Horbatuck mentions that preparation for patients second shot begins as soon as they show up for their first dose and then continues once they leave. When they come through the registration tent, their second appointment is actually made at that time which encourages them to be part of the process to ensure they pick a date, said Horbatuck. Social media is very, very big in multiple different languages as well.

Oklahoma Names New State Epidemiologist, Fourth Of The Pandemic

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has announced a new state epidemiologist. Jolianne Stone, formerly deputy state epidemiologist, will be the fourth official to serve in the role over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, following Laurence Burnsed, Dr. Aaron Wendelboe, and outgoing Dr. Jared Taylor. Stone s past experience includes Infection Prevention Manager at Integris, and she brings her unique perspective addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in a hospital setting to this new position, according to a news release from the state. Taylor will be moved to a position as chief science officer, which the department said will work to bring an academic lens to operations at OSDH and public health initiatives in the state.
