Gov. Evers: Wisconsin is getting shorted on COVID-19 vaccine

MADISON, Wis. - Add Wisconsin to the list of states told by the federal government that it will be receiving less COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech than initially expected.

Gov. Tony Evers said on Friday that the state was told on Thursday it will be receiving 35,100 doses of the vaccine, less than expected after 49,725 arrived this week. The Department of Health Services did not respond to messages about how much vaccine was expected.
MFD celebrates first African American female deputy chief

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Fire Department announced they have appointed its first African American female as Deputy Chief.
Deputy Chief Sharon Purifoy will lead the department’s Emergency Medical Services Division. She has been with the department for 17 years and has been a registered paramedic since 2012.
The department wrote:
Her commitment to recruiting and mentoring young firefighters, supporting them as they progress through their own careers will be maximized as she demonstrates to other City of Milwaukee women of color that not only are they welcome on the MFD, but that they too can promote and lead the organization. Indeed, on November 8, 2018, Purifoy was on the very first all-female engine company – she is a true trailblazer! We are so proud of Deputy Chief Purifoy! Congratulations!
DHS: New outpatient infusion clinic opening for COVID-19 patients

COVID-19 alternate care facility at Wisconsin State Fair Park
WEST ALLIS, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced on Friday, Dec. 18 that the Alternate Care Facility (ACF) in West Allis will be opening an outpatient Bamlanivimab infusion clinic on Tues., Dec. 22. The clinic will be open seven days a week, except for Christmas Day and New Years’ Day.
A news release says Bamlanivimab was authorized for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in November for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in adult and pediatric patients.

MILWAUKEE - Health care workers across Wisconsin have been getting the first dose of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.
Aurora hospitals have given shots to more than 50 frontline workers so far. Among them, one woman who says it was important for her and those around her to get the vaccine.
