Spain cannot afford to fail when it comes to the “good”, transparent and effective management of funds from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the EU Recovery Fund, Spain’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Minister, Luis Planas, told EURACTIV’s partner EfeAgro in an interview. Since Spain joined the EU in 1986, the CAP “represents the greatest challenge of public funding management” for the Iberian country, Planas stressed in an exclusive interview with EfeAgro. “I really like politics, but I really like public management and the good use of public funds. Now there is a very important amount, with the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) until 2027 and the recovery fund managed by the ministry, a total of €47,724 billion”, Planas stressed. “Now we have funds [ed. the new CAP and the Next Generation EU Fund, along with other EU financial instruments] that will not be repeated in the near future”, he said. ....
Following the first lockdown, Europe’s hospitality sector was the first to take immediate safety measures. However, it has also been the sector that has paid the full cost of the pandemic. In 18 out of 27 EU member states, pubs, restaurants and cafes remain closed. In the other nine countries, they operate partially with strict measures in place.
