Globe doubles reforestation, CO2 reduction efforts

Globe Telecom, Inc. said it will ramp up collaborative initiatives with its customers in order to double efforts on reforestation, watershed conservation, and carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction efforts to combat climate change.
So far, the company raised P15.65 million for these efforts, which will be used to cover 156 hectares of reforestation sites in Bukidnon and Lanao del Sur through its long-term partnership with Hineleban Foundation. 
This, as Globe encourages its customers to donate their Rewards points or GCash credits in the company’s reforestation and conservation efforts.
Every 100 Rewards points donation is equivalent to one tree, and every P100 donation via GCash is equivalent to 1 tree planted. ....

GCash funds massive re-forestation of Ipo Watershed

GCash, the digital financial services firm of Globe Telecom, Inc., will fund a massive government-led re-forestation of Ipo Watershed, which is one of Metro Manila’s sources of freshwater.
A statement showed that through donations generated from GCash, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the United Nations Development Programme’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will be able to plant the first of 365,000 native trees like Narra, Lauaan, Kupang and Yakal in Ipo, which is located in Bulacan.
The reforestation will take place in 2021 as soon as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. ....
