michigan, early on after the supreme court decision said something to me that i just thought was crazy. he said, you know, this the court taking away the expansion from being mandatory and making it a state choice is going to end up being positive, because states that do the expansion are going to go through a process and embrace it as opposed to just doing it because they have to. and i thought that was kind of crazy. but over time i m starting to see the wisdom of his reflection. which is that every state that moves forward now has a deeper understanding of the program, it s harder to fall back on the rhetoric of it s welfare or it s people who aren t working or it s a big public program when the reality is it s serving working families that the business community is supportive, that it s already largely delivered through private plans. and so don t get me wrong, i have a lot of concern about the pace of discussion, but the fact is we are having state-specific discu ....

good morning, i m melissa harris-perry. we begin this morning with a story that s hard to hear but necessary to discuss. now, i m going to be referring to this clock behind me, okay, don t get too distracted by it. i ll bring it back whenever we need it. the state of oklahoma was scheduled to execute two convicted murderers, clayton lockett and charles warner. tha their crimes were heinous. the inmates challenged the execution claiming that they had the right to know the source of the drugs. a district court judge ruled on march 26th that the secrecy law signed by governor mary fallon in 2011 was unconstitutional. but after the state s supreme court granted a stay of the executions on april 22nd so that it could rule on the issue of secrecy, the governor responded, saying the court had acted, quote, outside of its constitutional authority. at the same time a fellow republican in the state house began working on a bill to impeach the five justices who voted for the stay. ....
