Top Story April 15, 2021 LAHORE: An additional district and sessions court Wednesday extended pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) MNA Javed Latif, accused of defaming the state institutions. The court extended his bail till April 27 after the counsel of the accused MNA submitted his client’s COVID positive report in the court. However, the court showed his reservation while looking at the report. The judge remarked that it doesn’t seem correct and it could cause trouble for Javed Latif. To which, the counsel of the accused MNA asked the court that it can verify the report. The court after hearing the counsel adjourned the hearing by April 27 and directed Javed to submit his second COVID report. Previously, the court had given final chance to Javed Latif to argue his bail matter after he had changed his counsel. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier Javed Latif was denied relief from the Lahore High Court. ....
Minor hurt as 40 shanties destroyed in Shah Latif Town fire Karachi April 1, 2021 A fire broke out in a shanty town in Shah Latif Town on Wednesday, rendering 40 poor families homeless. While no loss of life was reported in the incident, a minor girl suffered burn injuries. According to a spokesperson for the fire brigade, the blaze devoured 40 makeshift houses in the Jogi Morr area. The injured girl was taken to a nearby private hospital. He said the firefighters brought the blaze under control after a two-hour operation. He said the fire had caused damage worth thousands of rupees and also rendered at least 40 families homeless. Police said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, adding that further investigation is under way. ....

Terrorist shot dead, five others arrested in Shah Latif Town operation Karachi February 9, 2021 Officials of Sindh’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) gunned down a “notorious terrorist and bomber” and arrested five others, all of whom believed to be operatives of a foreign hostile intelligence agency, during an operation in the Shah Latif area in the wee hours of Monday. Later, a media briefing was held at the CTD Sindh headquarters that was attended by Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the provincial police chief, CTD Sindh chief DIG Omar Shahid Hamid and Raja Umer Khattab, chief of the Transnational Terrorists Intelligence Group who led the operation. ....
