On May 25 I will enthusiastically vote for Bill Henchy for Brewster Planning Board. I’ve had the honor of meeting Bill and understanding his deep commitment to the town’s people and character. A year ago, Cape Air was rounding into spring, headed for what they assumed would be another busy summer. Then, the pandemic hit. In late March, Gov. Charlie Baker shut the state down, closing all nonessential businesses and issuing a stay-at-home advisory to try and put the brakes on a rapidly expanding outbreak of COVID-19 cases. Over the next 10 months, the new coronavirus would infect nearly a half-million Massachusetts residents leading to more than 14,000 deaths. To offset this unprecedented national health and economic crisis, Congress passed a $2 trillion relief bill that included a Paycheck Protection Program that ultimately grew to nearly $659 billion in low-interest loans that could be forgiven if businesses used 60% of the money to save jobs. ....
