EDWARDSVILLE – For the third year running, Metro-East Lutheran High School’s orchestra took first place in the Illinois High School Association’s 2021 solo and ensemble competition.
MELHS has now earned the No. 1 ranking for its division every year since the school launched its orchestra program in 2018.
“We are blessed to have really talented musicians among our student body, and I’m so glad they still had opportunities to use their talents and make music during this unusual year,” said Karen Shimkus, music teacher at MELHS.
