In the 1980s and early 90s, many of my summer days were spent about 135 miles north of here at a place called Sunset Cove Resort on Marble Lake just outside of Quincy, Michigan. Sadly, my parents grew older and frailer as all parents do, and they sold their lakeside escape in 1995, the last year we visited the Quincy area.

The two 19-year-olds, on a free day, set out to explore what was then a very undeveloped downtown walk along the San Antonio River.
