Homicide detectives on Monday night, Feb. 1, arrested the man suspected of gunning down a beloved Cathedral Catholic High School teacher and football coach earlier in the day in North Park, police said.
Detectives arrested 30-year-old Jesse Milton Alvarez in a Serra Mesa home on suspicion of murdering 37-year-old Mario Fierro, according to San Diego police homicide Lt. Andra Brown. Alvarez is the ex-boyfriend of Fierro’s fiancée, who also is a teacher at Cathedral Catholic. ....

Cathedral Catholic High School Coach Sean Doyle remembers slain Coach Fierro -

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A Cathedral Catholic High School teacher was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant today on a North Park roadside, San Diego police reported Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire shortly after 7 a.m. found the victim mortally wounded on a sidewalk in the 4500 block of Kansas Street. He died at the scene.
Monday afternoon, the Diocese of San Diego identified the victim as school teacher Mario Fierro, 37.
Homicide detectives have learned that Fierro may have been shot after getting into some kind of dispute with another man, who drove off to the north in a small older-model vehicle following the gunfire in the neighborhood just west of Interstate 805 and south of Madison Avenue, according to police. ....

The one-hour event will feature practical tips on how to set up students for success in their online studies, how to balance work and supporting your student, and how to overcome challenges. The seminar will include tips from a panel and a Q&A with the virtual participants. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) The restaurant industry has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, as some have closed their doors while others are trying to hang on. But thanks to the Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation, several struggling restaurants have received a little financial help. One of those restaurants to reach out to the foundation is Hob Nob Hill in the Bankers Hill area.
Hob Nob Hill is a landmark It s a San Diego landmark, says owner Tania Warchol.
But when the pandemic arrived back in March, the 77-year-old restaurant was not immune to the devastation. Like most restaurants, they have taken a big hit. ....
