Making it just not spending it to market watcher larry gracer who sees michigan changing. explain what just happened that you found so telling. when we look at today s data we see that despite the increase in income, we re seeing spending flat and that s part of a trend we have been seeing. a very sluggish spending, and why? because the consumer is saving more money. they re save are more because they re not feel the enthusiasm. despite the stock market at all-time highs main street is not sharing in that today and as a result the consumer is doing what the consumer should do, they re reinn in spender and consumers are reducing spending and holding back and being more conservative. history suggests for the summer time they open up the wallet a little bit more. ....
Consumer feels more confident about their prospect for the future and that s something that is miss to go in the whole equation, and it s really tragic. larry, june is a problematic month for the markets generally. not all the time but a lot of times. then again may was suppose told bev that way, too and we still ended up on the month as a whole. so what do you think about june, this summer, how it looks? much has been said about this june swoon or this summer slowdown, and i think at the end of the day the stock market is actually fairly logical and the market will track earning, and earnings have been sluggish. if earnings improve and companies grow their business, the stock market will move higher. right now it s a show-me story and so far earnings have been challenging. the consumer reads the away and know in the first quarter the economy didn t from at all. completely frat. the onus is on demonstrating there s growth and showing the companies can hire and the middle class wage ....
