Second Amendment Sanctuary: Sheriff Mike Lewis proclaims for Wicomico

SALISBURY, Md.  There was no resolution. There was not a vote. But there was a gun-rights proclamation Tuesday night.  Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis spoke in front of masked council members and a limited gathering of residents as he proclaimed the county a Second Amendment Sanctuary  at the start of a regular County Council meeting.  The undersigned Wicomico County Sheriff hereby declares Wicomico County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary to protect the constitutional rights of its citizens and will not unconstitutionally infringe their rights to keep and bear arms, Lewis said as he closed his proclamation March 2. The proclamation remains purely symbolic quoting the Second Amendment and stressing it s fundamental right and differs from the resolution formats seen across the country.
