Wednesday, august 30th. i m jonathan lemire. thanks for starting your day with us. and we, of course, begin rng this morning with hurricane idalia which is now a category 4 storm and is forecasted to make landfall along florida s big bend where the peninsula merges into the panhandle as a category 4 hurricane between 6:00 and 9:00 this morning, eastern time. that s just a few hours from now. if idalia does make landfall as a category 4, the national hurricane center says it ll have sustained winds of 130 to 156 miles per hour with a very high risk of injury or death, and it would likely produce catastrophic damage. another major concern is an expected record breaking storm surge of 12 to 16 feet in the landfall zone. florida officials warn the surge could impact areas up to 200 miles south into the tampa area and may leave portions of of ....
