Have a new conference. what are you expecting? a little bit of a 2015 victory lap. we got a little preview of that yesterday from the white house press secretary where they are laying the claim that, hey, a lot of people thought 2015 after the republicans swept the elections in 2014, one controlled the senate, that it would expedite lame duck status for president obama. he s going to say, look, for a lame duck, i got a lot done. you look at cuba, you look at different things. i would argue for the first ten and a half months, they re right. they had a pretty good 2015 considering what we all thought it was going to be. since paris, the handling of it, that he is now admitting he could have handled it better, we see the public is souring on him a little bit. ....
As the days and weeks go by. we re hearing him more unfettered, hearing him speak more personally as he did there when he was in a prison a shere but for the grace of god go i, eye sengsly. on all of these issues he seems more open to being direct and he actually was warned certainly in the media by some african officials that he should not come here and try to impose the western will on gay rights on this country, but he didn t back off on that. i think this is an intercation that president obama knows he only has a little more than a year left to get things done. some would say even less if you believe in lame duck status and he s pushing hard. i love he s also pushing hard there as well making sure civil society is brought in. what are his plans over the next few days in kenya and ethiopia? ....
We ll have more on that issue later this hour. the white house also triumphant on the big win when it came to marriage equality a priority obama and the democratic party embraced late in his first term. so all in all, a remarkable turn of events for the obama presidency. not so long ago, it felt like he hit the second-term blues, lame duck status seemed to be on the horizon. republicans taking over the senate, absolute paralysis in washington. the president seemed to be relegated to taking executive action, and those actions have since gotten snarled up in the courts. but obama was back in the rose garden this week celebrating a sudden string of big accomplishments. that s when america soars, when we look out for one another. that s why we do what we do. that s the whole point of public service. so this was a good day for america. ....
