Mad Rush!
April 30, 2021
Crowds at various city markets between 6 am and 10 am could hinder Government’s attempt at controlling COVID spread
Mysore/Mysuru: With the Government allowing essential commodities trading only for four hours from 6 am to 10 am on all days till May 12, when the 14-day Statewide
COVID Curfew ends, merchants and traders of the city and district are witnessing a huge rush during this window period.
As a result, Santhepet in the heart of the city, where many wholesale and retail shops selling grains and other commodities are located, is witnessing an unusual rush during the permitted business hours. Traffic jams have become a common sight on all the roads, lanes and sub-roads of Santhepet and vicinity as traders and vendors from rural parts of the district come along with small goods vehicles. Most of the times the roads see bumper-to-bumper traffic during the window period.
Forest Department approval needed to cut vegetation near Lalitha Mahal Palace
Mysore/Mysuru: A survey to identify the most suitable spot for the location of a
Helicopter Terminal (Heli Terminal) in Lalitha Mahal Palace Grounds began this morning to pave way for Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeeshwar’s dream project of launching Heli Tourism with adequate space for helicopter docks.
The survey comes at a time when concerns are raised about cutting of trees in the area to house the Heliport facility. Tourism Department holds 40 acres of land in the locality and the vegetation has to be cleared to facilitate Heli Tourism and as such, permission has to be sought from the Forest Department.
Mysore/Mysuru: Days after Minister for Tourism, Ecology and Environment C.P. Yogeeshwar said that
Heli Tourism would be launched at four tourist destinations including Mysuru, the Minister held important discussions regarding setting up of two permanent helipads at Lalitha Mahal Palace Grounds in Mysuru and on the premises of Bangalore Palace (Palace Grounds). These helipads would be exclusively used for Heli Tourism.
The Minister was on a visit to Mysuru this morning where he held a closed-door meeting with member of erstwhile royal family Pramoda Devi Wadiyar regarding the two helipads on the lands that are owned by the royal family. Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) Chairperson Shruthi Krishna was also present at the meeting. He sought inputs from Pramoda Devi Wadiyar on his ideas for developing Mysuru into a prominent tourist hub.

Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeshwar held talks with Pramoda Devi Wadiyar of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family on Sunday for setting up helipads at Lalitha Mahal Palace Grounds in Mysuru and Palace Grounds in Bengaluru as part of the State government’s initiative to begin heli-tourism.
The State government plans to set up helipads in Mysuru and Bengaluru, besides other places of tourist interest in the State like Hampi, Jog Falls and Mangaluru, as part of its heli-tourism circuit. As the journeys by road or rail are time-consuming for the tourists, the government has proposed setting up helipads to faciliate the tourists to hop from one destination to another.
