the chopper is still in the area with a spotlight on the home. and family and friends of the suspect are also out here trying to get any word on what is happening and whether he is going to surrender. when we first got here on the scene a couple hours after the shooting happened, we heard some gunfire for a solid hour. it s unknown whether that was coming from the gunman or the s.w.a.t. team. now we learned from family members of the gunmen that he pulled up inside a stranger s home and so the advantage that the officers have right now is that he might have run out of ammo. we haven t heard any gunfire for the past few hours. we do know he has been talking to negotiators and negotiators have brought in family members. his cousin as well as his mother and a brother is what we are hearing. so hopefully, he surrenders, we are being told that he has reached out to his grandmother and he told his grandmother, i need help. we love him and here to support him. we love you, sam.
