Police attended a Lockyer Waters home at 4.10pm on Monday, after neighbours reported what sounded like a gunshot. Laidley acting officer in charge sergeant Tony Harm said the weapon was allegedly discharged just once. There was a shot fired at Naomi Road. Someone went armed with a firearm and discharged that firearm towards an address on that road, he said. According to senior sergeant Harm, there were people home at the time of the incident and they are assisting police with enquiries. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only Drivers are “just not getting the lesson” police have said, after conducting a major blitz on the weekend that led to more than 40 infringement notices and several arrests. Two drivers were busted more than 20 kilometres above the speed limit and another 29 were caught speeding, showing some people have “no regard for the road rules or other road users,” officer-in-charge of Laidley police, Senior Sergeant Regan Draheim said. Laidleyâs officer in charge senior sergeant Regan Draheim has assured drivers that once a speed limit is changed, it can be enforced by police. The clarification comes as new school zones have been erected on Gehrke Road for Sophia College. âOnce the speed limit is changed, the law according to that speed zone can be enforced,â senior sergeant Draheim said. âPeople should be obeying the speed limit regardless of where they are. âSpeed zones are in place for a reason, drivers are only putting themselves and others at risk if they donât obey them and the other road rules.â ....
