Prof. Wumi Iledare, Professor of Petroleum Economics and Policy Research, commented: "The new tariff may be based on an increase in the wellhead price for gas. We must agree, however, that N68 per KWhr is a substantially lower price ceiling than the current market clearing price. N68 is likewise not close to the fair return price of an economic good with a declining marginal and average cost curves.
In a notice to its customers, the management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC, stated: “Kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 16.28 hours, which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has developed an application that will help citizens lodge complaints about power outages and disruptions across the country. Sanusi Garba, the NERC chairperson, while speaking during the app’s launch in Abuja on Monday, said the initiative is in line with the commission’s pledge to improve service delivery to customers.
