GAA star and all round sportswoman Cora Staunton was amongst the speakers at a wellbeing event in St Brigid’s Church, Highwood last Thursday. The gathering was hosted by Geevagh GAA club, the Co Sligo representative in the Lidl One Good Club, an initiative supported by the Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association and Jigsaw, a national mental health support service for young people. Other speakers included singers Sean Keane, Charlie McGettigan who won Eurovision for Ireland in 1994 and Sandy Kelly’s whose only sibling Barbara, sang with her as part of The Duskeys when they represented Ireland in the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest, and who died by suicide in October 2018.
