Health Minister Tom Osborne announced new initiatives to improve access to health-care for seniors in Newfoundland and Labrador's major hospitals, but it will take time before goals are realized.
The Order of Newfoundland and Labrador added seven more to its ranks on Wednesday in a morning ceremony held at Government House hosted by Lt-Gov. Judy Foote, chancellor of the order.
The department is working with Waypoints, a St. John's organization that offers residential and support services to young people and families, to expand support beginning in 2023.
A 10 per cent increase in the income supplement and the seniors' benefit announced in March will take effect July 5, said the provincial government in a press release on Tuesday.
