A new study, backed by the government, is going to trial giving close contacts rapid lateral flow tests every morning, for seven days. Results take about 30 minutes, and if theyre negative, they can go about their lives as usual. Rapid tests are considered less sensitive compared to pcr ones, which are processed in a lab, but scientists hope they can still play an Important Role in tackling the virus. We will also ask participants to take a pcr test at the beginning of the seven day period and at the end of the seven day period, and also if they Test Positive at any time to confirm the result, and this will help us really understand, you know, the effectiveness of this approach.
