Canceling catering contracts and stopping production of boom. jonathan serrie is live in louisiana. today bp announced it s creating a $100 million fund to help unemployed oil rig workers facing financial hardship as a result of the moratorium on deep water drilling. the bp oil spill prompted the obama administration to impose the temporary ban to protect the environment. but economic development officials fear the moratorium could have a huge impact on louisiana s $70 billion oil and gas industry, which provides jobs for more than one in five residents. the oil spill continues to concern louisiana s $2.4 billion seafood industry. many commercial fishermen, including folks you see at this staging area in la feet, are working temporary jobs with the clean up effort through the vessels of opportunity program. ....
