That was Kyle Wibby’s position Monday on whether Orleans should have a community center. Wibby, vice chairman of the town s Recreation Advisory Committee, and four panelists talked during a citizens forum Monday about what a center might look like, where it might be located and what it might offer residents. A father of three young children, Wibby runs programs out of the Old Firehouse on Main Street and has been involved in the development of the Finch Skate Park. “There is a need and a desire for it,” he said of a new community center. A community center was listed as one of the town s top two priorities in a survey taken by 300 residents last January. The survey was the impetus for a petition article at town meeting calling for a feasibility study on a new center. ....
ORLEANS Residents are invited to share their ideas for what a new community center could look like during an interactive program Jan. 25. “Orleans Community Center: Imagine All It Can Be, presented by the Orleans Citizens Forum, will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. The forum hopes the event will tease out ideas, suggestions and possibilities for what the town might one day be able to offer its young and old alike. Voters turned down an article at October’s town meeting to fund a feasibility study for a community center. They also voted down a ballot question that would have authorized $75,000 for such a study. ....
