St. Louis County Sheriff patch BEATTY TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – A 42 year old Duluth man, found hanging onto an overturned canoe Thursday afternoon, was rescued and airlifted to a hospital. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the reporting party found the man on Elbow Lake near Cook and was able to take him to shore to meet up with a waiting ambulance. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff s Office, a 911 caller reported they found a man hanging onto an overturned canoe on Elbow Lake in Beatty Township at 4:41 p.m. The caller brought the man, later identified as 42-year-old Kyle Westrick of Duluth, to the boat landing, where first responders met him and transported him to Cook Hospital. Westrick, who suffered hypothermic medical conditions, was later taken via air medical service to a hospital in Duluth. ....
