A free tax service in St. George will extend its services through mid-May in response to the IRS extending the income tax filing deadline to May 17. The service, which was initially slated to end in mid-April, is called Tax-Aide and is the nation s largest free tax assistance and preparation service, according to information provided by Tim Martin of the St. George Interfaith Council. All Tax-Aide volunteers manning these sites have completed IRS and AARP training programs for advanced income tax preparation, Martin said. In St. George, tax preparers will be operating out of Kuzy Hall and the west side parking lot of the Saint George Catholic Church (259 W. 200 N.). In the parking lot, tax preparers will meet taxpayers in their cars to pass out instructional packets. When the packets are completed, they can be dropped off at a drive-through on the west side of the Saint George Catholic Church. The drive-through will be open on on a first come, first served basis ....
