0 our breaking news coverage continues here on cnn. i m live here in boston, massachusetts. i m jake tapper. i m john berman. it is 5:00 a.m. in the east. what a night. what a night it has been. a massive dramatic police operation unfolding just outside of boston this morning. they are going door-to-door looking for a man who fits the description of boston marathon bombing suspect number two. that is the man seen wearing the white cap in the photos you have been looking at. listen. what we are looking for right now is a suspect consistent with the description of suspect number two, the white-capped individual who was involved in monday s bombing of the boston marathon. they have also revealed that suspect number one is dead. you may know him as the man wearing the black hat in the photos. this is a warning, people near watertown, massachusetts, eight miles outside of boston, are told to stay inside. do not answer the door unless the people at the door can clearly identify themsel
0 with police overnight. the records that have, that explain to us is that he traveled last year, over six-month period, out of the united states. he flew out of new york on january 12th, 2012, to moscow and returned on july 17th, 2012. and whether he was visiting relatives, we re told he does have family there. but at the same time, they want to know whether he went for any sort of terror training during those travels. a couple of other points that highlight how these two brothers were not on the radar screen of law enforcement until after the bombings at the marathon. and that s because on these travel documents, for this older brother, he s listed as a person or instrument that may pose a threat to the security of the united states. and that that is posted on the documents this morning. at 6:00 a.m. for the younger brother, it says, he s a known or suspected terrorist. and their associates, facilitators and family members also placed this morning at 6:29 a.m. so it shows how quickly
0 get to us, others pass us and turn into a neighborhood. still seeing helicopter overhead. it was down at one point, back up and still doing that orbit around this particular neighborhood. just a short while ago just before that press conference i spoke with the city manager. he talked to me about what they were doing to keep people in place. and also he said he wouldn t go into specifics of the investigation, but said it was far from over in this particular neighborhood in the watertown community because this is the last place they saw that suspect, was here. came down quite frankly where we are from cambridge into this particular neighborhood obviously throwing explosives out of the window. this is the last place they saw him. they believe he s here with all the people chasing him. with all the people, all the resources they had behind this person. they don t think he could have gotten far from here. so while there are other areas being cleared, there have been huge police presence
from 20 different states are on hand as well. there will be hundreds of cameras along the course and four eyes in the sky from state police helicopters. bill? bill: what about tactical resources. what are we allowed to report on that? reporter: there has been a lost effort put into speed in this case. there are a lost k-9 units, at least 90 different teams of k-9s to respond within moments to anywhere along the racecourse and some other tactical resources being staged along the 26.2 miles. we had a chance to talk with the nema director kurt schwartz. take a listen. we have a tactical resources to deal with any threat or hazard situation that comes up. and does that include s.w.a.t. teams? it does. and it include all of the homeland security resources we have and all the capabilities. they re staged in every
