Research shows dueling attitudes toward paying ransomware demands

Roughly three in four individuals assert that companies should not submit to the demands of ransomware gangs in the event are infected, says one survey report. Yet roughly three in four parents say that school districts should pay up if they are impacted by an attack. So which is it?
It could very well be both, as respondents’ sentiments likely vary depending on what they personally have at stake, how important they view the security of their data, how hypothetical the attack scenario is, and what kind of organization is affected. ....

Green Energy Company Volue Hit by Ransomware

Norway-based green energy solutions provider Volue has been working on restoring systems after being targeted in a ransomware attack.
Volue offers industrial IoT, data and market analysis, power trading, construction software, optimization and trading software, water infrastructure documentation and management, and transition and distribution software solutions to more than 2,200 customers across 44 countries, particularly in Europe. Volue was created in 2020 by combining Powel, Wattsight, Markedskraft and Scanmatic in one international group.
The attack was discovered on May 5, when Volue said some of its operations had been impacted. The company shut down affected applications and started working on restoring systems. It said all data had been backed up in the cloud and backups were not affected by the attack. ....

Where’s the outrage?
The recent news on mainstream media is that the first four of the approximately 1,000 children separated by the Trump administration have been reunited with their families.  Congrats to all involved.  
Now, let’s talk about the 23,000 (and counting) unaccompanied minors, separated by the Biden administration, now “detained” by the United States Office of Refugee Resettlement. These minors are mostly teenage young men, or those who claim teen status. Who is to determine the age of a person who arrives with no identification?   ....
