Views: Visits 165 Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Saturday declared that herdsmen were not responsible for the killing of Dr. Fatai Aborode. Aborode, a former House of Representatives candidate, was killed last year in Iganga, a town in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state by yet to be identified persons. The killing and other killings, kidnapping and attacks in Ibarapa geopolitical zone have been attributed to suspected herdsmen. Though, many people believed that the PDP chieftain was killed by suspected herdsmen, Makinde, however, said that that herdsmen were not responsible for the killing. Makinde who spoke on Saturday morning during a program on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) said, ”Aborode’s killing is political.”

Oyo community buries farmer killed by suspected herdsmen

Punch Newspapers Sections Wale Oyewale, Ibadan Igangan community was thrown into mourning on Saturday while a prominent farmer, Dr Fatai Aborode, was being buried in his uncompleted house along Apodun Road, Igangan, Oyo State. Aborode, the Chief Executive Officer of Kunfayakun Green Treasures Limited, was killed near his farm along Apodun village, Igangan, by suspected Fulani herdsmen. PUNCH Metro gathered that the farmer and his manager, Bolanle Olanrewaju, were waylaid around 5pm on Friday while on a motorcycle on their way home. Olanrewaju, said, “Two gunmen came out from the bush and forced us to stop. Two others blocked us at the back to ensure that we did not escape. Behind us was another motorcyclist with his wife on board. They were also stopped and we were all ordered to come down from the motorcycles.

Gunmen Murder PDP Chieftain In Oyo

The Police have confirmed the murder of Dr Fatai Aborode, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, by unknown gunmen. Aborode was allegedly killed in his farm along Apodun road, Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state on Friday. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident made available to newsmen yesterday in Ibadan. The PDP chieftain was the Chief Executive Officer of Kunfayakun Green Treasures Limited. The PPRO confirmed that the deceased was robbed and shot by four unknown gunmen at about 5.50 p.m.
