코로나19 사태와 디지털 기술의 영향에 의해 산업 구조 변화가 가속하면서 기업 간 인수·합병이 활발히 이뤄지고 있다. 최근에는 이마트가 이베이코리아의 지분 80.01%를 약 3조4400억원에 인수하는 계약을 체결했다.
이베이코리아는 옥션, G마켓, G9(지구) 등의 오픈 마켓을 운영하는 온라인 기업으로 오프라인 유통의 강자인 이마트와 시너지 효과를 크게 낼 것으로 기대되고 있다. 이마트는 이베이를 인수함으로써 단번에 네이버에 이어 e커머스 업계의 점유율 2위로 부상하게 됐다.
