CUTTACK: Inadequate beds at designated Covid hospitals (DCHs) in the district has forced patients to depend on the private facilities where they are being allegedly exploited with exorbitant bills.Even as the State government has fixed treatment cost for private hospitals, lack of enforcement and monitoring by the authorities has added to the woes of Covid patients.
While the existing two DCHs at SCB MCH having 500 beds is already overcrowded with 616 patients, the beds of other seven DCHs set up at private hospitals remained occupied. As a result, Covid patients are being forced to seek admission in private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics. Naveen to lay foundation for Khannagar bus terminal today
Cuttack: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to lay foundation stone for an ultramodern bus terminal at Khannagar here Saturday.
The proposed bus terminal would be named after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, said sources in the district administration.
The bus terminal would be built on 12 acres and the state government has allocated Rs 65 crore for the project, sources added.
“The Chief Minister is scheduled to reach the Silver City at 10.45 am by helicopter. He will visit Netaji Birthplace Museum and pay floral tributes to the legendary leader on his birth anniversary. Soon after paying homage to Netaji, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the ultramodern bus terminal,” said an official of the district administration.

According to a source, Samal has been suspended with immediate effect by order of the Odisha Governor professor Ganeshi Lal after he was found guilty for dereliction of duty.
This administrative action was taken following the enquiry reports submitted by the engineer-in-chief and chief engineer (PMGSY), said an official notification issued by the rural development department.
The Executive Engineer of RW division-II Nabarangapur (Umerkote) Santosh Kumar Samal has neglected his duties as reported by the EIC RW, Odisha and chief engineer (PMGSY) after their inquiry on the collapse of one RCC slab of the Biju Setu (bridge) across River Nagi on Janiguda-Talapadar road in the district, the notification stated.
