Children playing at Biju Pattnaik park in Bhubaneswar on Thursday
BHUBANESWAR: With children increasingly contracting Covid-19 in the second wave of the pandemic, experts and paediatricians have asked parents to exercise greater caution.
This was not the case last year when children were found to be at a lower risk of exposure to the infection than adults. However, the situation is different now. The onus is on parents to ensure that children are not taken to large gatherings and also out for travelling during this time, believe eperts.
Bijay Panigrahi, director of family welfare and a paediatrician himself, said, “We have seen that children stay at home most of the time. Parents and other elderly members of the family are the source of infection for them So it is imperative for the adults to strictly follow Covid- appropriate behaviour.”
