GUWAHATI: Assam joined the nation in launching the Covid-19 vaccination drive on Saturday, with a medical officer in Golaghat district becoming the first person in the state to receive the jab.
Dr Milan Kumar Laskar, the sub-divisional medical officer of Bokakhat, was administered the shot at 11.07am at a public health centre, right after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the occasion.
Later, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the state-wide drive at Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh, and minister for health and family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma at Gauhati Medical College hospital (GMCH) here.

The target of the first phase is to vaccinate 1,90,000 health care workers in Assam and 1,00,000 frontline workers in the second phase of the drive.

Bokakhat: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the COVID-19 vaccination drive across the country, in Assam Dr Milan Kumar Laskar was the first doctor to receive the vaccine shot in Bokakhat.
The doctor has been vaccinated at Swahid Kamala Miri Subdivision Civil Hospital at Bokakhat. Meanwhile, 406 frontline workers will be vaccinated in the first phase at Bokakhat subdivision.
It is to be mentioned that the vaccination drive in Assam was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister at the Assam Medical College(AMC), Dibrugarh while Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the drive at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital(GMCH), Guwahati.

WhatsApp Delays New Privacy Policy, Says No Account will be Deleted or Suspended
The company earlier said that it s going to apply the new privacy policy on February 8, but now the chat app will now apply it on May 15.

The messaging app- WhatsApp in a blog stated that the company is giving to its users more time to review the policy and accept the terms of data sharing along with Facebook.
