Crews continue to monitor Olinda fire for hot spots and smokers two-months later : Maui Now

Two days shy of the two-month anniversary of the start of the 1,000-acre Olinda Fire, daily fire patrols continue, according to a state Department of Land and Natural Resources news release. Firefighters from the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife continue checking for hot spots and smokers.

95 small businesses selected for $1,000 grants from Maui Business Recovery Fund : Maui Now

The Maui Economic Development Board, in partnership with the Principal Foundation, said 95 small businesses directly impacted by the Aug. 8 Lahaina and Upcountry wildfires each will receive $1,000 grants from the Maui Business Recovery Fund.

County amends Unsafe Water Advisory for part of Upper Kula : Maui Now

Effective Sept. 12, 2023, the Department of Water Supply announces that the Unsafe Water Advisory for Upper Kula has been amended to remove Zone 1 from the affected area. Water serving homes and buildings in Zone 1 has been determined to be safe for unrestricted use. Maui wildfire recovery: resources and updates, Sept. 11 : Maui Now

As of today, $83.78 million in federal assistance has been approved for more than 5,090 households. This includes housing and other needs assistance and Small Business Association disaster loans. There were 7,282 people housed at 32 locations around Maui, in coordination with the American Red Cross. The EPA has completed removal of hazardous material at 433 properties in total.
