TOI Photo: KK Choudhary MUMBAI: Heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai since early morning on Monday, leading to massive waterlogging, disruption of local train services and vehicular traffic across several locations in the city and its suburbs. The suburban trains on the Central Railway s main line as well as the Harbour line were running behind their schedules, an official said. Local train services are currently running only for personnel engaged in healthcare and other essential services, and are out of bounds for general commuters in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. ....

The city experienced moderate to intense spells of rain today. Waterlogging in several parts of the city threw traffic movement out of gear. Despite the civic body s claims about pre-monsoon work, waterlogging was witnessed in several parts of the city including Parel, Dadar, Wadala, Kurla, Chunabhatti, Sion, Bandra, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Santacruz, Malad, Dahisar, Nallasopara, Mira Road and Bhayander. A Central Railway spokesperson said the suburban services on both these lines were hit due to waterlogging and it led to bunching of trains. Due to heavy rains and waterlogging on slow line near Kurla -Vidyavihar, local trains were running 20-25 minutes late. Slow line traffic between Kurla -Vidyavihar was diverted on fast line.
