Taylor confirmed as Alaska's top legal officer, three nominees rejected

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The nomination of Treg Taylor to be the Governor s Attorney General was approved during a joint session of the Legislature after objections were raised and after extensive debate.
Taylor was ultimately confirmed on a combined vote of 35 to 24.  The vote among Senators was 12 to 7.  The House vote was 23 to 17.
The Governor s other cabinet nominees, James Cockrell at Public Safety and Lucinda Mahoney at Revenue, were approved.
Following extensive debate, the nomination of Abe Williams to serve on the Board of Fish was rejected 41 to 18.
The nomination of John Cox of Anchor Point to serve on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board was rejected.  The vote was 30 to 29 in favor of his nomination, but he needed one more vote to constitute a simple majority of the 60 member legislature. ....
