And behind closed doors, i guarantee you president zelenskyy is having sme serious discussions about what type of end state that might be acleavable in the near term. there might be some form of a cease-fire. there has to be an acknowledgment that what we have right now is not sustainable. ukrainians are doing well but i don t think anybody sees the ukrainians pushing the russians across the border. what they see is some type of a frozen conflict where ukraine is achieving some great tactical successes but at some point there is acknowledgment that russia will in fact occupy about 15% of ukraine. ambassador, part of the new calculation is belarus is now moving closer to getting directly involved in the fight alongside of russia. what would it mean for ukraine, do you think, to have to fight a war on another front, along the nor northern border this time. belarus did not want to fight ukraine. lukashenko is beholding to putin ....

So fred, what with you learning about this? reporter: hi, there, kate. we re watching it very closely and ukrainians also watching it closely. we spoke with a top level ukrainian level and there is a good deal of concern about the additional russian forces pouring into belarus. the latest information that we have that it is a little under 9,000 russian tropes that have been and are being deployed to belarus at this point in time. but there were some videos out there showing a heavy equipment tanks being brought into belarus and that certainly doesn t bode well for the situation there. we know that alexander lukashenko is dependent on vladimir putin. he acknowledged that belarus is in this war but also said that he does not intend to be part of an attack on ukraine. at the same time we have rhetoric coming out of belarus claiming that the ukrainians are plotting on attack and they are saying that is not the case. and i was able to speak to an adviser to the ukrainian ....

And that is why you have russian troops there and a possible faint. i suspect the ukrainians are prepared if the belarus troops move, but i think it is a faint to take pressure off the russians in the east where the ukrainian counter offensive is moving successfully. would you like to add, i respect the general s views on military matters but i suspect zelenskyy has no interest in conceding any land of ukraine to russia because of the great russian war crimes committed against the ukrainian people. which includes the rape of ukrainian women, the abduction of children and massive torture. and let s talk about what russia is having to do in the meantime to continue to sustain their war effort, general. there is widespread reporting of russian officials grabbing men off the street and to enlist them in the war effort. at same time, there are reports of mep going into hiding. people fleeing to neighboring countries. we ve seep this for weeks now. what do you think this about ....
