CORRY The home at 47 E. Smith St. was appealing to Mandi Johnson long before she and her family moved in.
Johnson, who grew up in Corry, loved the big old houses in town, and after she and her husband, Scott, moved to Clymer, New York, she longed to return. She kept a close watch on the real estate market in her hometown.

With little more than a month to go before the May 18 primary, Erie Mayor Joe Schember might have a bit of fence-mending to do. When the local Democratic Party committee members met last week, they voted not to endorse Schember for a second term. He will still be heavily favored to retain the nomination, but it shows that the committee is composed of independent thinkers. That’s actually good for the party.
Up until the pandemic, Schember thrived in his role as mayor, appearing at events and gatherings all over town. That visibility changed with the lockdown, but I suspect his popularity remains quite high.
