A popular Southern comfort food buffet considered by many as a Jacksonville landmark closed its doors permanently Monday after 19 years in business. Arden’s Kountry Kafe has been known throughout Northeast Florida for its freshly fried chicken, Kountry fried steak, smothered with luv chicken, Salisbury steak, chicken and dumplings, collard greens, mac & cheese, tomatoes with okra, roast beef, baked chicken and other from-scratch classics. Co-owners Arden and Michelle de Saussure announced Monday that they are reluctantly closing the restaurant at 8299 W. Beaver St. in the Marietta neighborhood. We did the best we could. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said early safety monitoring has detected 21 cases of anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction, after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The cases were detected in a pool of 1,893,360 first doses administered from Dec. 14 to 23. This translates to 11.1 cases of anaphylaxis per 1 million doses, said Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, in a media briefing Wednesday. | Read more ....
