March 29, 2021 update: Koko Crater Summit is scheduled to begin Monday, March 29 and last for about three weeks. A helicopter will do some work that will close the entire park and tramway April 5, 13 and 14.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Work began Monday on the Koko Crater Tramway after an agreement between the City and County of Honolulu and the Kokonut Coalition.
The popular hike consists of 1,048 wooden steps, many of which are eroded and degraded.
The Kokonut Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the World War II Tramway.
In 2019, the city and mayor allocated $1 million towards long-term and immediate repairs to the tramway turned recreational resource. About $74,000 was used in conjunction with the public-private partnership between the city and the Koalition. ....
