The dust has barely settled on the weekend s inaugural Sound Valley music festival but organiser Gioia Damosso says she s already getting stuck into plans for next year s edition. There s not really any rest for the wicked, Damosso said. I ve got a weeks worth of admin to catch up on, then it s cracking on to announcing the dates for next year, and getting a line up on board. We want to keep that momentum going while it s still fresh in everyone s minds.

Whanganui two-day music festival Sound Valley finally got off the ground after an earlier false start, with a weekend of perfect weather and good vibes. It was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Oceanview Speedway overlooking the city, with space for overnight campers and enough room for children to run around.
The event was organised by Gioia Damosso and Koert Wegman, of Lost Arts Events. After being rescheduled from February s original date because of Covid-19 restrictions, ongoing alert level changes and last week s rain, it had been a trial for them.

It s an uncertain business but Gioia Damosso and Koert Wegman have no regrets about quitting their full time jobs to become event organisers, launching Lost Arts Events at the beginning of 2020.
It s been quite a ride trying to organise large scale events with Covid in the background. We thought at the beginning, alright this year isn t going to go how we wanted it to, shall we push on ahead shall we just not go down this track, but we re both quite optimistic people, said Damosso.
