Christians in Kasana-Luweero have described the late Archbishop of Kampala, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, as a champion of development in the diocese where he first served.
They hailed Archbishop Kizito Lwanga for promoting development projects in health and education sectors shortly after his consecration as the pioneer bishop of Kasana-Luweero in 1997. ....

The historical dependence on the Nile by these countries was not an issue, at least not until the early 1900s. At that time, colonial powers sought not only to use the river but also to control and reshape it.
As time passed, the flow of the Nile was less and less natural. The affairs of the Nile River had become more of a zero-sum game. It became clear that the flow of the river was finite, and the need for treaties arose. ....

Archbishop Lwanga will be remembered for always speaking out against injustice -Bobi Wine


“I have learnt with great shock about the sudden death of His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese. It will be very hard to cope with this unimaginable loss,” he said.
Hon Kyagulanyi adds that Archbishop Lwanga always spoke out against injustices and many Ugandans will  remember him  for that.
“He will be remembered for always speaking out against injustice and oppression. Only yesterday as he joined the faithful to celebrate the way of the cross, he raised his voice yet again and condemned the rampant abductions of our people by the state,” he eulogized.

Today, we celebrate Archbishop Janani Luwum’s Day. It is a day when we remember that the archbishop stood up and spoke up against the excesses of Idi Amin’s regime. We particularly remember that Archbishop Luwum protested the unexplained killings and disappearances of citizens. 
We recognise Luwum’s courage and his calling as a man of God. Indeed, we recognise the sacrifice and the ultimate price he paid. It is in that spirit that today, we call upon religious  leaders in the country to stand up and speak for democracy and the right of their flock in accordance to what their faith demands of them.  ....
